Troubadour
Hello all, figured I'd register this morning before I go off to my creative writing class.

I'm Jason, and I've been looking for a good looking fantasy writers forum for awhile now. One that seems down to earth, and a lot less "elitist" as it were, and after lurking now for a few days, I can safely say I found the right place.

I've been writing lets see... since I was 5? I think I wrote my first fan fiction when I was 5 or 6, not sure exactly. It was a one page story based on... wait for it... Toejam and Earl from the Sega Genesis. I remember when I was 8 or 9 I used to make these stupid 4 page comic strips about a superhero that was a piece of pizza. (It was in my teenage mutant ninja turtles phase, so I thought... hey, why not make a piece of pizza be the heroes this time)

Anyway, I've always loved fantasy or science fiction, based on my interests in movies and video games. And horror, definitely horror as well. My absolute passion I think for fantasy came when I was 13 or 14. First it was due to Morrowind for the PC/XBOX, and the idea of actually immersing ones self in a role. Then Lord of the Rings The Two Towers came out. I had resisted the first one, assuming at my young and stupid age that the story was just another kids tale. (I was already watching R-Rated stuff by this point lol) I was wrong, at least, regarding the movies.

Anyway, the rest is history. When I was 15 I came up with a solid fantasy world, and wrote my first attempted novel: still my longest attempt at 250 pages of generic drivel that I hope I never see again.

Presently, I'm working on wordbuilding, as I've had two concepts I've been working on, and after a weekend of frustration, I decided to join the two concepts together, and I think I'm actually happy with it. I'm going for a mixture of sword and sorcery, with a slightly "medium fantasy" feel to it as well. No elves, no dwarves, no orcs, but there are dragons, shapeshifters, and as an homage to one of my favorite authors of all times - Robert E. Howard - a relatively volatile clash between barbarism and civilization. I'm aiming for a cross between ancient/medieval/savage civilizations in my world in progress, and I already know the first tale I wish to tale.

I'll probably post a topic on the writing question board, because I do have a dilemma that is key to the first story I write. (which is gonna basically be a novel version of the first short story I completed)

Glad to be here!

Welcome to Mythic Scribes, Jason! Good to have another genre-hopper here. As for your story based on Toejam & Earl, I'm saying nothing...:D

Hey Jason!

Welcome to the gang. Robert E. Howard is one of my favorites as well. I keep his Conan collection on my nightstand for inspiration.
