New to site

I've been perusing the site and am seeing a LOT of very old posts. How active is this site? If I were to post a story to critique, how many replies can I expect back?

.... do people do much critiquing of other's work here? I posted about four days ago... not a single person has helped me in the critique section. Plenty of replies in the general discussion, but nadda in the critique request section....

it varies. Some pieces get a lot of attention and other hardly anything. What the reason is is hard to say. Some pieces grab peoples attention or maybe they're from well known members who have critiqued a lot and it's people returning the favor. It's also sometimes a matter of being lucky enough to catch people when they have time, since there is some time investment in doing a good critique.
