My artist has completed the Sylant. I'm sharing it with with this community first as I've grown to like you guys. Please share with me your feedback below. I'll show the female version after her adjusts a few things. Thanks!
Sylant
The word Sylant is used in the Book of Creation, the holy book of Mawoor, to imply a blessing or gift. It is used to describe the Sylant as “…Erisala created a people as gifts to walk the earth.” The Sylant also came to this realm through the Gates of Thelus during the Second War of the Realms 250 years ago. They, alongside the Kasari and Madakari, fought their way here to escape the harsh life of the Realm of Light. The Sylant are the dominant power in Desert of Bydarah, with their central seat of power in the city of Brakasa.
Description
The Sylant also hail from the Realm of Light yet with features considered outlandish even to that realm. They are tall, averaging between six to seven feet of height. They grow scales on the forearms, the backs of their hands, their shins, and their thighs. In the case of males, they grow scales on their chests, shoulders and feet. The scales do provide slight armor-like protection. Those who purpose martial paths tend to treat their scales with guarded concoctions that harden them. The hardened scales add a noticeable level of protection but also reduce the Sylant’s limberness.
Males also grow short horns from their chin and the back of their forearms. The horns are black and never stop growing. They are considered a badge of pride. To break a Sylant’s horn, any of them, brings great shame upon him. Likewise, anyone, whether Sylant or outsider, caught with a horn of a Sylant will meet violence. A Sylant who kills someone for possessing a poached horn within the boundaries of Brakasa is considered a hero and free of judgment.
The eyes of a Sylant are striking; slightly larger than what a human would possess with sclera of color and black pupils. The various colors can be: amber, silver, amethyst, sapphire, ruby, emerald or platinum. It is often said that “to look into the eyes of a Sylant is to see the lights of the earth.” Female Sylant of high standing also wear kohl to further accentuate their eyes.
The Sylant hair is typically straight with colors found in the human range. They tend to grow their hair long and unbound. Those who have taken a martial path will either cut it short or braid it. They do not grow lower facial hair.
