I finished reading a True Crime book (Elize Matsunaga: a mulher que esquartejou o marido) and started reading Dracula.

Currently reading The Bonehunters.

Malazan never really gripped me. I really hated the first book, even gave away my copy. But then reddit convinced me to read the Deadhouse Gates. And funny enough, that one instantly entered my top three fantasy books (alongside Storm of Swords and Name of the Wind).

So yeah. I'm reading Malazan.

I'm re-reading Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence, love how short and sharp it is.

Just finished Wuthering Heights, horrible people doing horrible things, 10/10.

One the same note, but on a bigger scale... about the start 'This Way for The Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen'. I've had to prepare myself for this but I think I'm ready.

I'm currently reading The Swords of Lankhmar by Fritz Leiber. It's part of the Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser series.

I've been working my way through the very many books of Andre Norton. Some of them, anyway; she was astoundingly prolific. Currently on the Time Traders series and I can see definite foreshadowing of the sorts of things that showed up in the Witch World books. Practice runs at the ideas, sort of? Not great books but solid and entertaining. Norton hasn't always come to mind when I've thought of my influences but I recognize she was an early and important one. I've probably stolen as much from her as anyone!

Finishing the 3rd volume out of 5. One of the Chinese classics, 16th century. Been banned off and on since it was written, due to its pornographic side, though clearly there is a lot more to it..

I'm need to clean out my library. To many books that I may not want to read again and so I'm on reading books that I may throw away if I don't feel like I want to revisit it again. Right now its "Tactics" vol 1-2 by William Balck.

Just finished The Years of Rice and Salt by Kim Stanley Robinson, very engaging alternate history. Reading Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann right now, a bit bored with it but going to try to finish it before I see the movie.

Just finished my friends romance. Its was a book 1 of several. And it was their first book. I feel I was not really the audience for it, but I appreciate that I could read it. It was well written, and certainly started the story off, but I think maybe it could have gotten to what book 2 is going to be about in this one, since it seems that is where most of the romance will happen...


Started the epic of Gilgamesh. I believe this might be the earliest known work of written fiction but there may be another. Quite surprising, it is kind of smutty right in the opening scenes. Just goes to show, even over 4000 years, we do kind of still think about the same stuff Its not a long one. Should be done with it quickly.

I have two other friends on the read list, then who knows?

Excellent choice with Gilgamesh. I remember how I discovered it one day in my school library and it was a strong reason, among many, which catapulted me into my interest for the wider ancient world.

About Gilgamesh. I read the Iliad and the Odyssey, and they were of a respectable length. I would have thought this one would be a bit thicker. But...its a short one. And it goes right away into a good smutty scene. Cant wait to see what comes next.


I guess when you are writing in clay tables, you dont put a lot of fluff on the page.

Finished with Gilgamesh. I had an audio book and did not realize, but the story is even shorter than I thought. The rest of it is scholarly commentary on the tale. Also neat to see something like this. 4000 years and people still write about the same stuff. I was surprised at the level of detail in the love arts of women, and how closely the flood story was to that of Noah, and there was even a little Sampson and Delilah in there. It ended a little abruptly, I guess carving in clay did not lend itself to being wordy. Funny that he seeks immortality, finds a dude who achieved it, and gets told, its impossible. They did not dwell on the meaning of that much, as much as just ended the book, but that was his answer

Interesting read.

I think I have one more on my list of books I told someone I would read, so Swords of the Six is next...or something like that.
