Somebody's read James Joyce~I find that things others might consider very boring are very compelling to me, so it definitely is only a few things that would make me give up.

SageThere are even people in this world who love it.Never. Sounds like I should give it a shot, though.
TroubadourSome people need action, other romance, some get bored if there isn't a dragon... so possible...I find that things others might consider very boring are very compelling to me, so it definitely is only a few things that would make me give up.
InklingI like this. Giving yourself the chance to learn what you like and what you don't1For me it is hard to say that I can outright give up on a book. I like to see that if the things I have issues with are corrected by the end. If they are fixed, that's great and it was just a rocky start, if they aren't I have the proof that it didn't work for me. It is also a great way to learn what I don't like and not to repeat those mistakes myself. A book series is a different story however. If after the third book I can only see the plot getting more mangled and convoluted, I will likely drop the series.
