Have you ever been spooked by video game 'scary' stories?

Also known as Creepy Pastas. The most common one being a .exe variant.

Nowadays I find them too cheesy and campy (even my favorite one, like Ben Drowned) to get scared by them even a little.
Back when I was 15 or so and didn't know better though? Some of them 'got' me pretty dang good. Most Notably Ben Drowned (a pretty famous and well recommended one) and Soul Silver.

I think these days I'm desensitized to the cheesy shock horror writing style of these stories, now I just laugh at them.
Although my favorite form of these stories (Video game Creepy Stories) recently are ARG's (Augmented/Alternate Reality Games) that use Minecraft as the Vehicle for the story.
Some of them are SO good, but a lot of them are really bad, you can't help but chuckle.

Another new thing I've learned about is UN-fiction, fiction which makes documentery style videos on media that doesn't exist, usually with a horror theme.

Zelda has always seemed dismal... I think the Metroid story is pretty redacted for Samus. Mass Effect has chilling stories inside stories. The Rachni. The Genophage. Anything inspired by Shakespeare? There is a total mess of inspiration, dotted around the place, taking some pretty spooky influence, then injecting some tragedy. The story of Sackboy is very scary. You wonder what gets into the minds of sock puppets these days.

I thought dead space was good horror. Its the last video game i played. Strange feeling, but in dead space 2 theres a moment where you realize you have to go back on the ship in dead space 1. I had a real reaction to that cause i did not want to go back. I went through a lot of trouble to survive it the first time.

Since you all are talking Zelda, i am not sure you are talking real horror games though.

If you're talking about the actual games, no, the canon material has very few spooky moments. Here we're talking about fan made content, specifically creepy pastas. Basically fanfiction, but spooky.

Some shout outs for Canon material: Twilight Princess has a few really good moments that WILL spook you (but more in the 'eep, ok fine, you got me' way) if you're not expecting them, but only then.

Majora's mask (the vehicle for the Ben Drowned Creepy pasta) is spooky for a few different reasons, but not so much in the horror 'ah spooky zombie gonna get you' way. More so in the 'oh, the moons falling in three days and if the hero doesn't save us we just have to suck it up and deal with it' way. you can visit most of the townsfolk on the final moments of the third day, and see how they're dealing with it. And, it's kinda haunting.

OG Ocarina of Time Bottom of the Well (version 1.0) was a bit more scary, due to having a lot more blood with zero context (To the game's story, there was plenty of context as to how the blood got there but no context to it's relation to the story.) Versions Past 1.0 had the blood removed though so it made the Bottom of The Well much less spooky. Except the sub boss, which if you experienced it as a child, still would give you mild chills today. Frankly it does not belong in a zelda game.

Version 1.0 of Ocarina of Time's Fire Temple theme is a bit unnerving:

In Skyward Sword: The simi main antagonist is a commanding presence whenever he's on screen, he's totally unhinged and he has that 'train wreck' vibe, you want to look away because of how unhinged he is, but you also want to keep watching because of how unhinged he is. Dude is a thespian and a showman, he puts on a good show in spite of the madness. Even link is mildly disturbed by his behavior a couple of times. and that's saying something.
