I share skip.knox 's perspective. Writing a novel takes a fairly long time, easily upwards of 100 - 200 hours. For me, that's a long time to be aflame with passion. I can care about the story I'm writing, and I can be excited to write some scenes. But passion rarely drives me forward, except maybe for the few scenes that I first came up with when dreaming up the story.
I understand your problem as I share it, OP. But the only way forward is to soldier on and have discipline. Without discipline to write, and read for that matter, you'll end up with a thousand stories and books you want to write or read, but nothing ever done.
