For the saga I am creating, I am building up a world populated by anthropomorphic animals and sometimes struggle to think up names for characters. Many names I come up with are subtly self-referential. For instance, a horse might be called Ned Tacker. The saga is meant to be quite tongue-in-cheek, so this is permissible.
One character I want to name but can't is a venerable old sensei, an Asian water buffalo, who taught my lead character her incredible fighting skills. Imagine Mr Miyagi in a bovine body.
If anyone out there knows any east Asian languages like Japanese, Korean or especially any dialect of Chinese, please could you suggest a good self-referential name for this character? Please add a description of why you suggest your particular name.
