Using dice when creating plot outcomes

I literally can't imagine writing forward into a blank space. It has never occurred to me to try. Maybe it would be a good exercise once in a while.

There's a Challenge thread where you use a random story title generator to prompt you before a ten minute writing sprint. I did two in there, and while neither will win me an award, I felt the juices flow and produced something reasonably readable with a beginning, middle, and end.

I'm a hardcore outliner, and to be truthful, I don't think it has helped me that much!

Even if you use a random tool like dice or I Ching, I think you already have a feel for what your story is, and random inputs will be shaped by that story idea. It can't come whole cloth from the input, it always filters through you. That's the way I see it anyhow.
