Writing specialists?

A few days ago a member wrote in and stated that he had a specialty in muskets. I thought his take on specialties was a great idea.

In our membership here we must have experts in a miasma of differing topics. And while most of us are using a Thesaurus, YouTube and Bing, the guys we talk to here might have the info in more depth right on the tip of their tongues.

Do we have a working clearing house of specialists here now? I am a member of a firearms forum, and we know the guys by continued association, and we can send PMs and/or begin open threads if the topic effects the forum in general.

I was thinking of something like a registry in a section here. "Hi, I'm Jon AusVenner, my specialty is shrunken heads."

My book is semi-autobiographical, religious, action adventure--in Purgatory. Do you know how often I search long into the night for bits and snatches on that?

Look in the Research forum for the "Ask Me About" threads. That is how members have been conveying their expertise. There is no formal registry of the sort you're talking about.

A formal registry might not be a bad idea, though: the "Ask me about" threads quickly get buried.

Mind you, by this point a lot of members know the expertise of one another and if a question gets asked in the research forum on a topic covered by the expertise of one of the members it's generally brought up pretty quickly who might be able to answer, or else answered by them.
