On my world there is a magically created desert about 450 miles across where the average daytime temperature is about 20 degrees (F) higher than the surrounding steppes and mountains. It is in the middle of a region roughly analogous to Mongolia in latitude and climate (it is in the middle of a continent and doesn't get much rain due to the rain shadow from a mountain range.
My question is, what would the weather be like near the boundary of the colder steppes and the warmer desert. I know the hot air would rise, would that, in turn, draw in colder air from the outlying area? I just don't know enough climatology to feel comfortable winging it.
Any help would be appreciated.
